Kagyu Dzamling Kunchab (KDK) is the first Tibetan/Vajrayana Dharma Center in the Western World that has offered and continues traditional 3 year retreats. Now over 34 years old, KDK has brought teachers, many for the first time to NYC. KDK has been blessed by teachings of the greatest Tibetan masters of our time from all four schools of Tibetan Buddhism, such as the Dalai Lama, 16th Gyalwa Karmapa, Dudjom Rinpoche, Sakya Trizin Rinpoche, Tai Situ Rinpoche, Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche, Kalu Rinpoche (Founder of KDK) and Lama Norlha Rinpoche (Founder of KTC and Director of KDK).

You're invited! Join us for weekly authentic/traditional Dharma practice (with an Ordained Lama) at 410 Columbus Avenue (79/80 Sts.) in New York City. Group practice is strengthened for all by each person who attends. Every Wednesday, KDK has a meditation, Buddhist teaching, and Chenrezi practice by an Ordained Lama, under the guidance of Lama Norlha Rinpoche. All teaching Lamas have completed one or more 3 year traditional retreats. KDK also presents special events, such as Empowerments & Teachings by various authentic and well-known Rinpoches, which are announced as scheduled. Attendance is $10, $5 for members, students, and senior citizens.

LAMA NORLHA RINPOCHE

Lama Norlha Rinpoche Lama Norlha Rinpoche was born in Eastern Tibet. He entered Korche Monastery at the age of five, receiving monastic ordination at fourteen. By the age of twenty-one, he had completed two three-year retreats. After the communist takeover of Tibet, he escaped on foot to India where he met Kalu Rinpoche and became his close disciple. In 1976, at the request of HH the 16th Karmapa and Kalu Rinpoche, Lama Norlha Rinpoche came to New York City to direct Kagyu Dzamling Kunchab, which was founded by Kalu Rinpoche in 1974. Two years later, Lama Norlha Rinpoche founded Kagyu Thubten Chöling Monastery and Retreat Center in Wappingers Falls, NY. Following the sacred example of his own masters, Lama Norlha has dedicated his life to teaching the practices that make up the Kagyupa three-year retreat. To date he has directed seven full retreats at Kagyu Thubten Chöling Monastery, with an eighth retreat that started in November 2011.
Since 1984 Lama Norlha has returned to his birthplace in Tibet several times. As part of his continuing initiative to re-establish the Dharma in Nangchen, he rebuilt the monastery at Korche, including its two retreat facilities.
